Update: Patience is a Virtue

PatienceThur 6-27: I’ve been writing all morning, finishing chapter 13 and working my way through chapter 14.  Just two more after that.  Sometimes the number of chapters changes between the outline and the rough draft, but in this case, I think they will stay the same.  I’ve still got almost a week until my self-imposed deadline for the draft, and I’m feeling pretty confident about finishing.

I also just updated the Previews page with a better description of the book.  Of course, I’ll still have to work on that later, but the blurb is the last thing to worry about.

Sat 6-29: All right.  I’ve just finished chapter 14 and am already working on chapter 15.  It’s feeling pretty good.  Now I have to write “the big thing” that I have both been looking forward to writing and dreading at the same time.  It was supposed to be the end of chapter 14, but instead, it’s going to be near the front of 15.  Once I get that done, the rest will just fall together.

Mon 7-1: I’m already into the last chapter.  I finished 15 this afternoon and I expect to finish this chapter by the end of the day Tuesday.  Then it’s time for the first revision.

  1. Just finished “His Robot Wife: Patience is a Virtue”. Excellent addition to the series. The writing is better than in the previous two entries and story is more focused. In addition to little details about the near future, we really get to see what Patience is capable of this time around. There is a real sense that she has evolved beyond being just a sex toy/slave as portrayed in the first story. The fact that she has been tinkering around with and “improving” her operating system (No spoiler, this was mentioned in the last installment.) is going to lead to some interesting developments in future tales. BTW, the “Easter Egg” embedded in the Daffodil operating system is priceless. The sex is more explicit in this episode, but I kind of missed Patience’s shopping addiction and endless acquisition of “slut wear”. Keep up the good work!

    • Thanks for the comments. I’m glad to see that what I was trying to do came across. I agree about the shopping. I’ll have to include more in the next book. I went all over the place as I was writing, unsure how explicit the sex should be. I had been working on 82 Eridani, which have very detailed and rather deviant sex scenes. Writing Patience, I had some chapters that were very tame, with only the vaguest hints of sex, and some that were much more explicit than what I finally ended up with. In the end, I tried to follow a middle path and smooth out the differencesduring revision. I wanted to be slightly more edgy and adult than the other books, but I didn’t want to stray too far into erotica, because that’s not what readers would be expecting. I’m glad you like the “Easter Egg”. I had thought about that idea long ago and actually thought I had put it in the last book and was surprise on rereading it that I hadn’t. Thanks again for reading.
