Old Spice

You’ve probably seen this one. It was featured on Ellen. It’s worth another look. By the way, I’ve used Old Spice for years.

Great Commercials

I’ve never seen this one before, but it has to deserve an honorable mention.

More Praise for His Robot Girlfriend

Here are some of the recent comments at Feedbooks.com:

From SRDavis,
I just wanted to say how much I love this story. It was the first thing I read from feedbooks, and I was in no way disappointed. I read it pretty much on one sitting. I did have to put it down to take care of something, but I was thinking about it the whole time I was reading it. In fact, you inspired me to finally post my first story. I’ve been sitting on it, unsure if I wanted to put it “out there”. So, thanks!
Again, I truly love the story, it makes me feel optimistic towards the future, and it makes me want to start saving up some money for a robot!

From liredhead,
I could not put this down. Very good story line that flowed nicely. I am really hoping that you continue on with the characters into another book in the near future.
And now I would really like to place an order for a robot that can do the household chores for me as well 🙂

From Robopete,
Just wanted to take the time to say how much I loved this book! I thought that it was extremely well written, easy to read and a thoroughly affirming, joyous experience overall. Devoured it in one sitting and have been re-reading some of my favourite bookmarked parts since – highly recommended.

and From JanG,
Wes, I thoroughly enjoyed His Robot Girlfriend. As an avid Star Trek fan I especially enjoyed the references when they were in Vegas. And I don’t like the Borg either!
I found the world you painted fascinating. A world almost the same as today’s, but with subtle differences.
I had an older download, so I noticed the errors 🙂 which I’m sure you’ve now caught. I downloaded the mobi version and there was a section in chapter 8 where all the quote marks and apostrophes were replaced with symbols and letters.

Thanks to all of you.

I don’t know if everyone is as fascinated by good advertising as I am, but here’s another great one.

Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Sorceress – Chapter 12 Excerpt

“Wake up, Master Buxton, wake up.” I felt a gentle slap upon my right cheek and then my left.

“Here. Drink this.”

The mouth of a small bottle was pressed between my lips and cool sweet liquid flowed over my tongue and down my throat.

“Is that an antidote?” I asked.

“Antidote to what?”

I looked into the face above me. It was one of the most beautiful faces that I had ever seen. Very large brown eyes, like cow eyes, but in a good way, which is to say large and brown, and with long lashes. A cute little nose. Perfect lips.

“I’ve been poisoned.”

“How?”

“You are the most beautiful woman that I’ve ever seen. Kiss me quickly before I die.”

“What poisoned you?”

“Quickly, the kiss.”

“I don’t think I had better kiss you if you’ve been poisoned. I might get some of the poison on my tongue.”

“Don’t use your tongue. Just use your lips.”

“Well, that’s not really much of a kiss, is it?” quoth she.

“I like the way you think,” I said, sitting up. “If you didn’t know I was poisoned, what was that liquid you just gave me?”

“That was water from the well outside. It’s supposed to be naturally healthful.”

“I feel much better, but ‘naturally healthful, does not quite equal ‘antidote to poison’.”

“I ask again. With what were you poisoned?”

“That pie over there.”

The Best Car Commercial of All Time

I’ve actually used this VW commercial “Big Day” to teach the concepts of plot, character, and theme. It’s a classic. You may recognize actor Kevin Rahm from Desperate Housewives (among other roles) as the lead. There are at least two versions of this commercial with ever so slightly different endings. If I find the other, I’ll show you.

Tesla’s Stepdaughters

I mentioned the other day that I had started on a new book. It is going to be called “Tesla’s Stepdaughters” and at the moment I am writing chapter six (of about 20). I hope to have it completed in a few more weeks. Here is the basic idea.

In a steampunk world where men are all but extinct, someone is trying to kill the world’s greatest rock and roll band. Agent John Andrews is assigned to protect the Ladybugs on their North American tour and track down their would-be assassin.
