The model that is featured on the cover of His Robot Wife and His Robot Girlfriend pops up all over the place. Of course, there’s good reason. She’s beautiful. I see her on posters and ads and today I got a groupon-type email with her on. I’m sure everyone is using her because her pictures can be purchased on royalty-free art sites. I just hope some of the money is trickling back to her, wherever she is.

Jeopardy

I took the Jeopardy test the other night. I always do well when I watch it on TV, but I think I may have blown my chance this time. I took the test one time in the old days when they had the tour bus that came around, and I got to the second round. We’ll see if they call.
New iMac
Well, I ordered a new computer and I surprised the hell out of myself by ordering an iMac. I’ve never owned a Mac, and had never been that keen on them in the old days when they were all we had in school. But after trying the new iMac and comparing it to Windows 8 (Windows just seems to get worse with each new version), I decided it was time to replace my aging HP with this sexy baby. I’m at the age where I don’t want to tinker with my computer anymore. I just want to turn it on and love it. And since I already am in love with my iPad and my iPhone, this just seems like a natural. Now I feel like Mike Smith (in His Robot Girlfriend) waiting for my Daffodil to arrive. Many canny readers have already noticed the Apple references in that book. As soon as she gets here I’ll post a picture.
82 Eridani Update
I read chapter five of 82 Eridani: Journey to my writers’ group last night and got great feedback. I’m just about done with chapter six. I’m looking forward to the three day weekend to get a bit caught up on my writing.
There was one scene in chapter five that I haven’t decided whether I want to leave in or not. It’s not important to the plot, but I was just having a little fun. I may post it in a few days. It’s about that Aussie treat– Vegemite. For some reason, I just had to write something about it and it ended up in the story.
Already Behind
So I set a new goal for myself for 2013– to write an average of 8 pages a day for the year. I didn’t expect to be so far behind already. It’s not even the middle of January and I’m already behind by 50 pages. Of course, being sick doesn’t help. I am determined to get five books done this year though– at least. I’ve got too many good story ideas that I need to get done.
Of course I have the 82 Eridani series in the works, and I want to get on the new Senta series, but I’ve also got an idea for a series taking place in the medieval version of Senta’s world.
Great Christmas from B&N
I’m looking at the sales numbers coming in and it looks like I had a lot of sales for the Christmas season at Barnes and Noble.
I don’t know about where you live, but around here, B&N is about the only bookstore left, so I wish them well and I hope my teeny-tiny contribution to their bottom line helps. They are certainly helping mine. My royalty check this year will be split between getting a new computer system and finally fixing up the front yard (for which my wife has been patiently waiting 24 years).
Crazy World
It feels like I fell asleep and woke up in an alternate dimension. I dozed all day and got up to read the news only to find out the White House is considering building a Death Star and Apple is making a cheap cell phone. What the hell?
Happy Birthday
Survived
Well, I survived the worst of the flu and even got back to work a few days. Now is my chance to get some writing done this weekend and look forward to meeting with the Shared Word Group on Tuesday.
Still Sick
Still sick. Blah.
