The Next Astrid Maxxim Cover Reveal

The next Astrid Maxxim will be Astrid Maxxim and her Undersea Dome.  Expect it before the end of February.  I am really pleased to present the cover.  As with the first Astrid Maxxim book, the cover was created by Matthew Riggenbach at Shaed Studios.  Working with him was wonderful.  In fact, there wasn’t much work at all.  I told him what I had in mind and he made it happen.  His first draft was almost perfect.  We made a few tweaks and it was done.  I am so excited.  Just looking at it makes me want to write.

As to the story.  As you can see, this second tale places Astrid in adventures under the sea.  I think there’s more action in this story than the first one.  Some of the characters that played small parts in the first story get a little more attention this time too.  Plus more Astrid and Toby.  I’m looking forward to penning more of Astrid’s adventures, though I only have ideas for the first ten or so right now.

Astrid Maxxim Cover

Astrid Maxxim is on the way and here is a good look at the cover.  This is the first book for which I hired a professional to do the cover.  The work was done by Matthew Riggenbach at Shaed Studios www.shaedstudios.com.  I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.  I’ll tell you more about Astrid and her story in the coming days and weeks.

Next Up: Astrid Maxxim and her Amazing Hoverbike

Next up, Astrid Maxxim and her Amazing Hoverbike.  I’m just about at the halfway point in the first draft.  This is my first kid’s book, aimed directly at middle school students.  It’s about a girl inventor and her friends, and it is very much my interpretation of a modern Tom Swift book.  I’ve written before about how much I loved Tom Swift and His Robot Wife is dedicated to Tom.

I actually made enough royalties last quarter that I was able to set aside a few buck to get my first professional help.  I was able to hire Shaed Studios to design the cover for me and this is the result.  I’ll show you the flat version later.  Matthew Riggenbach was great to work with and I’m really excited about the book and its cover.  If you’re an author and want to check Shaed amd Matthew out, here’s the address: http://shaedstudios.com/.

Blood Trade: Cover Contest Results

The votes are in and this is the cover chosen.  Now that Women of Power is in the can, I can get on the first revision of Blood Trade.  At this point I’m expecting it to take till the end of September, so you should expect a release about November 1st.

Tesla’s Stepdaughters – New Cover & New Price

When I first published Tesla’s Stepdaughters with a cover very much like this one, I included the description on the front– “A bitchin’ cool sci-fi rock & roll detective story.”  My wife immediately objected to this, in particular the word “bitchin’,” saying it was off-putting.

Now the book is selling just about as well as my other books, but the sales patterns are very different.  It’s not selling as well in certain areas as the other books are.  So, I’m thinking maybe she was right, at least for those places.  Anyway, the cover is much the same, though without the descriptive text.

The ebook price is also now lower–  99 cents.  It’s already dropped in price at Smashwords and Amazon and should follow soon at all fine ebook stores.

Free Book Cover Designs

You may have seen my post a couple of weeks ago about Book Cover Pro. I purchased a copy and have created a couple of book covers. I would like a little bit more practice, so I am offering to create a few custom covers free. Between now and the end of the year, that’s 12-31-08, I will be glad to create a custom cover for your book. Send me the vital information– Title, Author ISBN, back cover blurb, and any other information you would like on the cover. If you have a photo or graphic you want used, then send that too. Tell me the size of book and how many pages it is.
