Netflix Price Change

Netflix recently announced they are unlinking their streaming and disk-through-mail plans.  If you never were interested in streaming programs from Netflix, I think this works out as a price cut for you.  But if you wanted to stream video and get disks in the mail, this is a HUGE price increase.  I immediately cancelled my disks by mail and went with streaming only.  I’m going to be using RedBox a lot more.  In the next few days, I’ll tell you how to get the most out of your local Redbox.

Clash of the Dinosaurs

I love dinosaurs, which is probably why they appear so prominently in my books.  I just finished watching this documentary series.  It has the latest dino-science and shows just what awesome creatures they were.  There are four episodes.  It’s available right now at the watch now on Netflix.

Netflix

Netflix has just added a few million dollars worth of online content that you can stream for free if you have a netflix account.  They are also going to feature a streaming account, for those that don’t want to wait for a DVD to arrive in the mail.

Roku Player

For anyone who hasn’t discovered the joys of the Roku Player allowing you to wirelessly stream Netflix to your TV, there are now new reasons to purchase this $80 goodie. Now you can connect to a host of web sites and stream them to your TV, like Pandora Internet Radio. Check it out at Roku.

Dr. Who

This summer I discovered the new Dr. Who. If you’ve only seen the old, sometimes campy, and always low-budget Dr. Who serials, you must check out this classy, slick, witty, and thoroughly enjoyable version. If you are a Netflix viewer, you can watch the first season (or series, as the Brits say) online or with your Roku TV viewer. You can get the other seasons on DVD. Check it out. You’ll be glad you did.
