The Voyage of the Minotaur: Zeah Korlann

Zeah Korlann is a character in the Senta and the Steel Dragon Series.

Spoiler Alert

Zeah is another character who makes quite a transition in the course of The Voyage of the Minotaur.  He starts off as the Dechantagne’s head butler, just as he is in Brechalon, but in journeying to a new colony and being one of the main figures leading and organizing that venture, he becomes quite important in the new community.

Zeah also finds himself being courted by a much younger woman, one who is not of the same faith.  This causes a great deal of consternation for him, though others don’t seem to have nearly the problem with it that he does.  One of the things I enjoyed was slowly changing Zeah from a stuttering self-consious servant to a much more confidant man.  He still finds his stutter whenever cornered by either Iolanthe or Egeria Lusk.  More about her in a few days.

The Voyage of the Minotaur is Book 1 in Senta and the Steel Dragon.  It is available wherever fine ebooks are sold.

Zeah Korlann

Spoiler Alert

Zeah Korlann is one of the main characters in the Senta and the Steel Dragon story, and plays a prominent part in Book 0: Brechalon.  When we first meet Zeah, he is the head butler for the Dechantagne family, having served in that position since he was a young man.  His father and grandfather also worked for the Dechantagnes, as does his daughter Yuah.

Zeah is a member of the minority Zaeri religion and this defines him.  He also, at least in the early books, has a pronounced stammer.  This speech impediment is exacerbated by proximity to his employer Iolanthe Dechantagne.  Zeah is one of the few genuinely decent and nice people in the story and he makes a great foil to play off many of the others– Iolanthe, Terrence, and even his own daughter.

Characters: Zeah Korlann

One of the major characters of the Senta and the Steel Dragon series is Zeah Korlann.  He begins as the head butler for the Dechantagne household.  His daughter is Yuah and they are members of the Zaeri minority religion.  I used Zeah to play out several themes in the story– the rise of a working class person to prominence, religious intolerance, etc.  Originally Zeah was a rather mild mannered fellow anyway, but when I revised the story, I decided he needed a stammer.  The stammer only shows itself when he is under stress– whenever he is around Iolanthe.

One of the major characters in Senta and the Steel Dragon (Book 1: The Voyage of the Minotaur)& (Book 5: The Two Dragons) is Zeah Korlann. Zeah is the head butler of the Dechantagne family. As a member of the minority Zaeri, he has had to deal with prejudice his whole life. As Zeah leaves with the rest of the party for the strange and distant land of Birmisia, his life begins to change. As the colonists rely on his organizing skills, he becomes more and more important, and his status increases. At the same time, he becomes the object of interest for a fascinating young woman.
