I’ve had a great day today.  I’ve been cancelling credit-cards and talking to the police.  Last night at about midnight a woman came to the door asking to use the telephone.  I let her use my cell but kept a close eye on her because– well, because I don’t trust people.  I was watching her very closely but I still turned away for a moment and she stole my wife’s purse which was by the front door.  Anyway, she was so quick, I’m sure this wasn’t her first rodeo.

We didn’t realize the purse was gone until this morning and the thief had a chance to charge up about $550 on our debit and credit cards.  I expect we’ll be reimbursed, but I won’t be repaid for my time– which in my estimation is about $250 an hour.  Can you imagine how much Rock Band I could have played in that time?

It reminds me of the story of the woman from the city, who along with her young daughter was walking along in the country.  When they saw a stallion mounting a mare in the pasture, the girl asked her mother. “What are those horses doing?”  Thinking quickly the mother answered. “One horse hurt its foot and the other is helping it back to the barn.”  The girl thought for a moment and then said. “It’s just like in the city.  You try to help someone and you get screwed.”

Platinum Dream (1969)

Platinum Dream was an attempt to return to a more balanced album along the lines of Magnum. It came off as a washed out version of the Spotted Album though, with few hard rockers by Penny Dreadful, and Steffie Sin songs that seemed like Ep!phanee knock-offs. As with the Spotted Album, the one great song was an Ep!phanee classic, this time Rotting Garden of Eden. It was the least successful Ladybugs album, despite the cover. The band posed for the cover wearing only silver body paint, hands and poses supplying some modesty. Unlike Beneath the Denim, there was no recall.

The Ladybugs (aka The Spotted Album) (1968)

The self-titled Ladybugs album, also known as the spotted album due to the styilized close-up of a ladybug on the cover reflected not only the backlog of songs by Penny Dreadful and Steffie Sin, but also their desire to return to simpler music. Few of the resulting songs could be considered great with the exception of the first track. The Song Tesla’s Stepdaughters became an anthem of a generation of women living in a highly technical world without men.

Blessed Nobody (1967)

Often called the most innovative musical work of the modern age, Blessed Nobody was built around a magical fantasy theme, held to much more tightly than was the war theme for UXB. The band posed for the cover in costume as traveling medieval minstrels and all the tracks were built around the idea of a fantasy sound with magical influences. This resulted in an Ep!phanee heavy record, but stands as her greatest collected work.

Blessed Nobody is often considered the third Ladybug Movie, though it was not filmed, directed, or produced by professionals. Instead, Ep!phanee and the others simply adlibbed falling into their imagined magical fantasy world, playing both themselves and a long list of characters. While some consider it a cult classic, it is hardly ever shown.
