Vegas is going to hell– literally. Werewolves run through the streets and the vampires are taking over. Former army ranger/Goth tattoo model/private eye Xochitl McKenna doesn’t like it either, especially when it comes between her and her clients. But are the vampires and werewolves the greatest threat, or is it something or someone much closer to her? Warning: Adult Content.

Blood Trade: Editing Halfway Done

As I write this, I’m exactly halfway through the final editing of Blood Trade, though since I’m a few days ahead on my blog posts, hopefully I’m all the way through by the time you read this.  For some reason, this book really takes it out of me.  It’s sucking away my soul like the vampires it contains when I work on it.  Therefore I can only manage to edit a chapter at a time.

As soon as the book comes out I will let you know here.  It will be available as an ebook for $2.99.  I also eventually plan to have a paperback as well.  It will carry an adult only warning, because of sex, violence, and profanity throughout.

Observant visitors will notice that Blood Trade already has a book link to the right and is already available for sale at Smashwords and Amazon.

Blood Trade: Coming in September

Just a couple of days ago, I was saying that Blood Trade would have a November release.  I don’t know why, but I was being grossly conservative.  As I write this, the last revisions are all done, and I’m in final editing.  It may take me a week or two, but definitely September.

Revision in Progress

I’ve started in earnest revising Blood Trade.  First up, I’m going through all the notes from alpha and beta readers.  I’ve essentially got 20 copies of the book, chopped into chapter long pieces, filled with notes.  I’ll make the suggested changes that I agree with and leave the rest as is.  Then I’ll go through and do a close re-write.  When that is done, it may be ready to start editing.

Blood Trade: Cover Contest Results

The votes are in and this is the cover chosen.  Now that Women of Power is in the can, I can get on the first revision of Blood Trade.  At this point I’m expecting it to take till the end of September, so you should expect a release about November 1st.

Writer or Slacker?

My original goal for the summer was to write eight pages a day.  I amended that to four pages a day, because I knew the first goal was simply unattainable.  Well, the summer is more than half over and I’ve written about an average of 1.25 pages a day.  I felt pretty miserable about that until I figured that if I managed to write 1.25 pages a day over the course of a year, I’d write 456 pages– four or five books.  I could live with that.  So, here I am.  Writing a page or so a day.  I’m about to finish the first draft of Women of Power and then I’m back on draft two of Blood Trade.

First Draft Completed!

The first draft of Blood Trade is done!  I’m so happy, I’m giddy.  I’ve been working on this since early March.  There is still a lot to be done.  I just read chapter six to the Shared Word Writers Group, and while the reception was positive, there were many typos and mistakes to fix.  There are also more than a few rough spots that need to be smoothed out and some major revision to be done.

I’m setting it aside for at least a week, so that I can get a set of fresh eyes.  Then I’ll do the second draft.  That should only take me a few weeks.  I’ll let you know when I get there.  For now… Hooray!

On the Last Chapter

Yay!  I’m on the last chapter of the draft!  I should have about four more pages to write.  This means, as I predicted that the draft will come in a bit shorter than originally plotted.  93 pages instead of 104.  That is primarily due to some huge rewriting at the end.  Everything originally plotted happens, but not in the same way or the same order that I originally thought it up.

I’ve been kicking myself because I haven’t been able to write the four pages a day that I originally planned.  But today?  Five pages!  Woot Woot!  Okay so that means the publication date is going to be somewhere near September 1.  A couple of weeks for draft number 2.  Three weeks for editing.  Maybe a draft 3.  And then I can forget everything I know about vampires.
