Feedbooks

His Robot Girlfriend

Fees.com was the first site where I posted on of my booksFeedbooks.com was the first site where I posted on of my books.  It was what gave me the idea to write His Robot Girlfriend and distribute it.  I still have it and the two Eaglethorpe Buxton free books on the site and HRG has been downloaded there more than 129,000 times.

Over the years, Feedbooks has had a wide variety of quality among their “Original Books”, for a while distributing some great free novels and then later being filled with relatively low quality erotica.  It’s catch as catch can there.

However, if you are looking for some great old books, check out their “Public Domain” folder.  It’s filled with some really good stuff and you can find a few gems that haven’t popped up elsewhere.   http://www.feedbooks.com

Great Christmas from B&N

Tesla's StepdaughtersI’m looking at the sales numbers coming in and it looks like I had a lot of sales for the Christmas season at Barnes and Noble.

I don’t know about where you live, but around here, B&N is about the only bookstore left, so I wish them well and I hope my teeny-tiny contribution to their bottom line helps.  They are certainly helping mine.  My royalty check this year will be split between getting a new computer system and finally fixing up the front yard (for which my wife has been patiently waiting 24 years).

Ebook Resources: The Indie Book Lounge

The Indie Book Lounge is a site that helps indy authors promote their books.  If you are interested in checking out books by up and coming authors, stop by.  There are quite a few free books here too.

Ebook Resources: ManyBooks

ManyBooks in one of the first and greatest suppliers of free ebooks online.  If you just got a tablet or an ereader, you definitely need to stop here and check it out.  There are tons of famous books by great authors, as well as those hidden gems.  Check out the Tom Swift books, the collected works of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Charles Dickens, and Tolstoy.

It’s hard to imagine a greater resource than ManyBooks.  You can stop by and in one afternoon create a collection of ebooks that would be the envy of most librarians.  Check it out.

Ebook Resources: Baen Free Library

If you love science fiction like I do, and you are a dedicated ebook fan, as I am, you should stop by the Baen Free Library.  Baen is a great publisher of sci-fi, especially the 1622 series and Honor Harrington, and they have gone out of their way to present ebook versions of some of their greatest hits absolutely free.  Stop by and check them out with your new nook, Kindle, or iPad, and if you haven’t tried the two titles I mentioned above–do.

Ebook Resources: Munsey’s

For all you new users of Kindles, nooks, ipads, and any of the thousand or so Android tablets that have been hitting the market this Christmas season, I thought I would spend a few days pointing out some of my favorite ebook resources.

Munsey’s

Munsey’s is a great place to find ebook versions of some of the great old pulp fiction books.  You can pick up versions of Red-Headed Sinners of Alley Girl in the format of your choice absolutely free.  Sadly I have seen some disreputable people selling these books online, but you don’t have to pay.  Stop by Munsey’s and get them free.  I have a lot of fun just browsing through the titles.

My Favorite 2-Star Review

My books have gotten many reviews– mostly good.  I’m proud to say that I have more 2 star reviews than 1 star, more 3 star than 2 star, more 4 star than 3 star, and more 5 star than 4 star.  Some of those are very well-thought-out and some not so much.

I usually try not to look at reviews, but sometimes I see them and can’t help myself from reading them.  I recently spotted the only review for Women of Power on US Amazon.  It’s a 2-star review, but I really enjoyed reading it.  First of all, though it has some real criticism, it is constructive.  Secondly, it has some positive things to say too.

Here’s a part I like.

“The sad part is that this author writes amazingly well. The whole book is modern
language type writing, making it easy to understand. And the author certainly
knows how to craft an action scene. It’s exciting and you’re never lost or
wondering where one character is, in relation to another, or even to the
environment. The author creates great superhero/villain names for the
characters. I’m a big fan of the Atomic Jack-O-Lantern, the name alone tells you
what an awesome character it is. I cannot sing enough praises for this author’s
ability to make me want to keep going one more chapter. Just one more… just
one more… till I suddenly find myself at the end of the book.”

Astrid Maxxim: Robot Valerie

**** SPOILER ALERT ****

One of the characters in Astrid Maxxim is a robot.  She’s Robot Valerie, imprinted with the memories of Astrid’s friend Valerie Diaz.

Robot Valerie has two purposes.  The first is just that I wanted a robot character.  Orignially she was going to be a robot version of Astrid’s other friend Denise.  I had Denise and Robot Denise for a long time in the draft, but Denise already has a complicated family life, so it just seemed natural to change the robot to Robot Valerie.

The second reason for Robot Valerie was as a plot device.  The bad guys are after Robot Valerie, naturally, because she’s a cool robot.  It’s just one more thing for Astrid to worry about.

For some reason, people just like robot characters.  People generally love Patience in His Robot Wife, and of the comments I’ve gotten so far about Astrid Maxxim, probably 75% talk about Robot Valerie.

The Many Adventures of Eaglethorpe Buxton is now available at the World Famous Diesel Ebook Store.

Eaglethorpe Buxton Description

Eaglethorpe Buxton, famed adventurer and story-teller, friend to those in need of a friend and guardian to those in need of a guardian. He is a liar and braggart, not to be trusted, especially around pies. Who are we to believe? Buxton himself leads us through The Many Adventures of Eaglethorpe Buxton.  This volume includes the previously published Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Elven Princess in which our hero comes to the aid of… a poor orphan? An elven princess?   And Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Sorceress.  When the sorceress, subject of Eaglethorpe’s play arrives with fire in her eyes, the hapless story-teller must pretend to be his good friend Ellwood. Will he pull off this charade and survive? And what happens when the real Ellwood shows up? One can never tell, especially when Eaglethorpe tells the story.  Plus thrill to three all new Eaglethorpe stories.  In Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Queen of Aerithraine, our hero is back in his homeland, just in time to stop a
mysterious murder, meet the Queen, solve the mystery of his best friend, and
face off against a zombie apocalypse!  In Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Amazons, our hero and his new friend Percival Thorndyke tramp through the horrible, stinking, insect-infested land of Ennedi in search of treasure.  Eaglethorpe must deal with man-hating Amazons, jungle-dwelling goblins, vicious centaurs, the dreaded and feared frog-bear, and a companion who seems determined to get himself killed.  In Eaglethorpe Buxton
and the Day of the Night of the Werewolf, the famed story-teller is sent to hunt down an unusual werewolf and manages to run into practically everyone he has ever met along the way.  The Many Adventures of Eaglethorpe Buxton is a farcical fantasy of heroic proportions, sure to elicit more giggles than gasps.
