Work in Progress: The Jungle Girl

I was really excited when I started the Jungle Girl and wrote the first five chapters.  This is sort of another homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, or maybe my attempt to immitate Burroughs.  I just love his stories and I write what I love.  I just finished another of his books a few weeks ago– The Deputy Sherrif of Commanche County.  But I digress.

I am going to get back to this story sometime soon.  It is basically a jungle adventure story, as you might have guessed from the title.  There are a few sci-fi twists– it wouldn’t be a Wesley Allison story if there weren’t some cross-genre things going on.  Like Princess of Amathar, it’s a first person story– and it’s been a while since I’ve written one of those.

Update: His Robot Wife

I’m really working hard to finish His Robot Wife.  I’m almost done with chapter six.  I was originally hoping for a February 3rd release, but it ain’t gonna happen.  I’m shooting for March 3rd now.  I’ll need at least three weeks and a half-dozen volunteers to revise and edit.  If this works out, I can still get five books out this year, which is my goal.

March 3: His Robot Wife
July 3: Senta and the Steel Dragon Book 4: The Young Sorceress
August 3: Senta and the Steel Dragon Book 5: The Two Dragons
October3: Women of Power
December 3: The Jungle Girl

Why the 3rd?  The official birthday of City of Amathar Press is February 3, 2007.  February 3rd was chosen to honor my brother– that was his birthday.

New Years Resolution: Writing

My goal for 2011 is to finish five books.  Right now it looks like they will be…

His Robot Wife
Senta and the Steel Dragon Book 4: The Young Sorceress
Senta and the Steel Dragon Book 5: The Two Dragons
Women of Power
and The Jungle Girl

Someone pointed out to me that all of my books have either a woman’s name or description in the title, and note that trend continues in 2011, though I have several books either in the works or in mind that break it.

Update: The Jungle Girl

I’m just finishing up chapter four of The Jungle Girl.  I had to go back and make some major changes.  I considered rewriting it in third person, instead of the first person story I started.  Instead, I went back and made some additions to the story that I think make it better.  I haven’t had much time to write this week but I’m hoping that next month will be much better.  The goal of course is to have it done by January for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest.  I hope to finish three books in 2011–The Jungle Girl, Women of Power, and His Robot Wife.

Work in Progress – The Jungle Girl

This is one of the five things I’ve been working on lately.  I can’t seem to focus and get down to business on just one.  The Jungle Girl is a kind of homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs and also features Teddy Roosevelt as a minor character.  I’m hoping to have it done in time for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel contest next year.  I can imagine the negative feedback from their experts, but I can’t help it– I write what I would want to read, not what they think I should write.  Right now, I’m finishing up chapter three of an estimated twenty.

The Dark and Forbidding Land and The Jungle Girl

Here is the first look at the revised cover for Senta and the Steel Dragon book 2: The Dark and Forbidding Land.  The second draft went faster than expected, as I was able to devote more time recently.  I am on the final edit, so the probable date for the ebooks is moved up to about July 20.

I also forgot about The Jungle Girl in my list of projects yesterday.  I don’t know when I’ll get back to it, but I will.  I have a deadline of March for the next Amazon Breakthrough Novel Contest.
