Work in Progress: The Young Sorceress

The truth is that I had to set this book aside.  The plot got so complicated that there was no way that I could work on it after school and on weekends and keep it straight.  It may be too complicated anyway.  I may have to start all over.  But if I continue as it is, I definitely need to wait until summer, when I can devote all my time to it.

When summer comes, if I’m nearly done with what I’m working on, I’ll finish it.  Otherwise, I’ll set it aside and retackle The Young Sorceress.  I need to get it done, because as I’ve said before, book 5 in the series The Two Dragons is essentially complete.  It needs a quick rewrite for continuity’s sake and I might add a chapter or two.  Whenever I manage to publish the Young Sorceress, The Two Dragons should follow within a month or two.

Work in Progress: Women of Power

I’m really almost done with this one.  I’ve got only about a chapter or so to go on the draft, but I set it aside until this summer.  I have the ending all plotted of course, but I kind of stopped feeling it there for a while.  This is going to be a novella of about 35,000 words, and is of course about superheroes, supervillains, alien invasions, mecha-warriors, and all that good stuff.

Work in Progress: The Jungle Girl

I was really excited when I started the Jungle Girl and wrote the first five chapters.  This is sort of another homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs, or maybe my attempt to immitate Burroughs.  I just love his stories and I write what I love.  I just finished another of his books a few weeks ago– The Deputy Sherrif of Commanche County.  But I digress.

I am going to get back to this story sometime soon.  It is basically a jungle adventure story, as you might have guessed from the title.  There are a few sci-fi twists– it wouldn’t be a Wesley Allison story if there weren’t some cross-genre things going on.  Like Princess of Amathar, it’s a first person story– and it’s been a while since I’ve written one of those.

Work in Progress: Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Queen of Aerithraine

I wasn’t planning on writing another Eaglethorpe Buxton anytime soon, but I knew that the next one would be Eaglethorpe and the Queen of Aerithtaine.  Then I thought up a really funny line and had to write it, so I ended up writing the first few pages of the story.  Eaglethorpe Buxton stories are really short (though this one might be bit longer) so I could sit down and pound it out pretty quick, but I’m probably thinking I’ll wait till this summer.

The first two EB stories are out there as free downloads, and a new one would be too short to charge even 99 cents for, so I’m thinking I might write two this summer and package them with the first two (maybe rewritten) as the Many Adventures of Eaglethorpe Buxton.  If I do, the fourth story could be any one of a number that I have rattling around in my head, but the most likely would be Eaglethorpe Buxton and the Werewolf.

Work in Progress: Knights of Amathar

This project has been in the works literally for years now.  I plotted out the story just after I finished Princess of Amathar and I’ve started writing it a couple of times.  At some point I know I’m going to finish it.  If I keep up my goal of completing five books a year, then I’ll have to get it done next year or year after, even if I don’t manage to get to it this year.

The story, like Princess of Amathar, is a first person adventure from the point of view of stranded Earth-man Alexander Ashton.  There will be lots of sword-fighting, laser gun fighting, and strange alien monsters.  The evil Zoasians of course make a return as do all the surviving Amatharians from the first book.

Work in Progress: Women of Power

After saying just the other day that this project was on the back burner, I have turned around and started working on this and the first draft is almost done.  I should have it pounded out in about three weeks.  Then comes revision, then editing, then…..

Work in Progress – The Jungle Girl

This is one of the five things I’ve been working on lately.  I can’t seem to focus and get down to business on just one.  The Jungle Girl is a kind of homage to Edgar Rice Burroughs and also features Teddy Roosevelt as a minor character.  I’m hoping to have it done in time for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel contest next year.  I can imagine the negative feedback from their experts, but I can’t help it– I write what I would want to read, not what they think I should write.  Right now, I’m finishing up chapter three of an estimated twenty.

Work in Progress – Knights of Amathar

Quite a number of people have been after me to get a sequel completed to Princess of Amathar.  I have a good outline of Knights of Amathar as well as four completed chapters (out of about 30), but it just keeps popping itself onto the back burner.  I keep coming up with ideas for other stories, and worse, starting them.  Fear not though, Alexander Ashton and his friends will eventually return.  When they do, I will probably have to design a new cover for them.  I’m not liking this one very much anymore.

Work in Progress – His Robot Wife

HERE IT IS!  THE FIRST PEEK AND THE COVER FOR THE LONG AWAITED SEQUEL TO HIS ROBOT GIRLFRIEND.

As I write this, I am just finishing chapter 2 of 10 planned.  I think I have a good outline and I’m enjoying writing Mike and Patience again.  My real challenge and desire is to make this book an answer for those who liked His Robot Girlfreind, but wanted more, or thought the ending left them hanging a bit too much.  I’m also adding quite a bit of explication for those who don’t believe my monetary system of the book was well thought out..  In any case I plan to have the first draft done by early November if all goes well.  My plan right now is that this will not be a free book– it will be either .99 or 1.99.  Let me know if you have an opinion on this or on the cover.  FYI, it is the same cover model that was featured on the first book.

Work in Progress – Women of Power

I have four chapter done of Women of Power.  I really like writing this one, but I decided I didn’t really like the ending that I had planned, so I’m sort of waiting for inspiration to strike.  I have posted chapters one and two in the form of issues (like comics) on Feedbooks.com.  You can follow the links on the right.  I had originally posted them on Smashwords too, but took them down when I decided to make it a full-length novel.  Consequently they are popping up at Kobo and Barnes and Noble.
